I was a little hesitant on buying. I have used grinders and whetstones to sharpen knives. but keeping the right angle was always a problem. I purchased guides to hold the correct angle but they were only good for knives in a certain size range. This device gave me more flexibility for knife size and does a very good job sharpening. The magnet that holds the knife is pretty strong. I will say for a very long blade there is a tendency for the blade to curve at the end but its manageable. I would recommend
